Oyakodon

For this week, the theme is focused on Asian Cuisine, on Japanese and Korean foods to be exact, this post will be about a Japanese dish. Oyakodon, it might sound a bit weird to you, but you will absolutely hooked to it once you know what it is. Basically, it literally means "parent-and-child", is a Japanese rice bowl dish. It is because, the ingredients the main ingredients are chicken and eggs. Judging by the picture, it looks quite yummy right?

So, I will stop rambling and give you the ingredients since you seem to be excited to try it out.
You will need :-
4 cups steamed rice
1 onion
3/4 lb of chicken thighs or chicken breasts
1 2/3 cups of soup stock
7 tablespoons of soy sauce
3 tablespoons of sugar
1-2 eggs

As for cooking directions
Cut chicken and other ingredients into bite-sized pieces. Heat 1/4 cup simmering sauce in a small frying pan. Add chicken and simmer. Add green onions and other ingredients. When ready, slowly pour 1-2 lightly beaten eggs evenly over the whole dish. Slide topping onto the steamed rice once the eggs start to cook. The rice will finish cooking the eggs.

There you have it, serve while hot and enjoy your meal.

Results of your cooking should look like the ones in this link

Chocolate Brownies!

This week’s theme is on heavenly sweet foods. For this blog entry, it will be on Chocolate Brownies. It was first discovered in Chicago, Illinois during the 1893 Columbian Exposition.

The confection was created by a chef at the city's Palmer's House Hotel after Bertha Palmer requested a dessert for ladies attending the fair; it should be; she said; smaller than a piece of cake and can be easily eaten from boxed lunches. These first brownies featured an apricot glaze and walnuts and they are still being made at the hotel according to the original recipe.

To make Chocolate Brownies, you will need the ingredients listed below, but this isn't the real recipe made by the chef at Palmer's House Hotel though. So here we go:

• 120g good-quality dark chocolate
• 125g unsalted butter
• 200g caster sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 eggs
• 85g plain flour
• 2 tbs good-quality cocoa
• 100g walnuts, chopped

The cooking instruction to make the Chocolate Brownies to this recipe can be found at http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/6805/brownies and there you have it! It will look almost the same as the picture above.

You might as well add on something else that you would like to have in your brownies or maybe make your own recipe for your brownies just like this!
Tasty looking, isn't it?
